RIP Corey Haim
Corey Haim had many troubles with substance abuse over the years and sadly, it was reported today that he lost that battle once and for all. Corey was found dead of what is suspected to be an accidental drug overdose early this morning by his mother.
Though he’s been forgotten in recent years, the movie obsessed adolescent in me will always remember him. He was quite crushable in the 80’s (I barely recognize the man in his more recent pictures) and he was the star of many of my favorite ‘80s movies including Silver Bullet, Lucas, the Lost Boys, and License to Drive. Despite the fact that he was several years older than me, I feel like I grew up with him because I was along for the ride in so many of his films.
My condolences to his friends and families. May you remember him as I do – as a cute and confident teenager who always made me laugh. As a Facebook friend of mine so aptly commented today, it’s apparently a bad year for 1980’s TV/movie stars.
