Winter and Wine

So I’m a bit of a wine buff. It’s not so much that I know anything really about wine besides the difference between red and white. It’s more that I just like to drink and in DC, wine flows more freely than the waters of the Potomac. I think it’s impossible to work in DC (at least in my line of work) and not develop an appreciation for a good glass of vino.

Part of my tradition every year is getting my wine loving friends together and going to as many food and wine festivals as my schedule permits. A little bit more difficult with a baby on my hip but I’m not letting that hold me back. That’s what husbands are for.

On my circuit each year are all of the Virginia wine festivals. There is the Vintage Virginia Wine Festival that usually takes place in the early summer, the Virginia Wine Festival typically in September, and a few more here and there if I can talk my liver into it. But for some reason, I always miss the boat on the DC events. This is not a tragedy seeing as the DC events are always ridiculously expensive (at least for my pocket book) but if you have the time, the money and the notion then I invite you to attend the 11th Annual Washington DC International Wine & Food Festival and tell me how it is. Apparently, it starts today and goes through Valentine’s Day. Check it out at http://wineandfooddc.com/.
