My eldest daughter called me today, she was remembering Jean from childhood. Jean and her sister, and my two daughters were cheerleaders for the Dale City Football League’s RAMS. My stepson was on the the Rams. My daughters memory was, “Oh Dad, don’t you remember, we were so inept, the four of us were the ones yelling “Sack the Quarterback”, when our team had the ball.
I myself didn’t know Jean, but my daughter remembers Jean in later years being the faithful volunteer at Enterprise Elementary.  My granddaughter and Sarah were there at the same time, and my daughter said, let the hint of a need for a volunteer be mentioned, and Jean was there. The same through the years of middle school and at Hylton.
My daughters memories alone tell me Jean was always a step up to the plate participant in this community, and Lindendale is going to sorely miss her.
Mine and my Family’s Condolences to to the Smith Family.  the Harrington Family.

I went to high school with Jean and Rick.  They were the most wonderful and caring people.  Jean was just full of life and a genius.  I am shocked and furious that anyone would do this to them.  They are in my prayers and my heart always.

Jean and Jim are Gone.

Today the Bulldog is wearing black.
Jeannie and James are taken from us.
The Yellow Jacket and the Bobcat
stand with bowed heads and lighted candles.
The Rockets and the Holy Family,
standing together in silent prayer.
We stand here, hand in hand missing them.
Tears course down on an empty future.
We are warmed by memories of good times
and chilled by murders so close to home.
Friend. Wife. Mother. Mentor to Children.
Friend. Son. Student. Bright future ahead.
Candles held high against the Darkness,
Members of our family are dead now.
Some knew them better than others,
but as family, we all feel loss.
Questions of “Why” are whispered around,
Silence and Tears are all that we hear.
Jean and James Smith, we miss you so much.
Schools of Hylton, Beville, Enterprise,
and the Church were touched by both of you.
Tonight We hold both of you in our hearts.
