GAME TIME BLOG: BATTLEFIELD (7-0) 20, OSBOURN (5-3) 18
1:10, fourth quarter: Well, that’ll do it. With an illegal touching call (the ball only went five yards), Battlefield takes over to kneel down and end the game.
The Bobcats hold on to win 20-18. See ya later.

1:10, fourth quarter: Despite a valiant effort, Thomas Keith‘s pass just falls through his receiver’s hands.
Now the Eagles will try to recover an onside kick.
____________________________
1:10, fourth quarter: With defenders bearing down on him, Thomas Keith found Lucky Whitehead for a 24-yard touchdown pass.
So Osbourn trails by two when Battlefield takes a timeout before the Eagles’ two-point conversion attempt. And we wait to see if there will be OT…
____________________________
1:27, fourth quarter: The Eagles spike the ball to stop the clock after Steve Slaton comes up with a terrific—if not a miracle—catch for a long first down.
____________________________
2:18, fourth quarter: Nagee Jackson may have just iced the game with a one-yard run on fourth and goal to put Battlefield up 20-12 (after the PAT).
Osbourn now needs a touchdown and a two-point conversion just to tie. That will be tough given what they’ve struggled to do in the second half.
____________________________
3:33, fourth quarter: The Eagles hold the Bobcats to the 20 and a field goal attempt, but Battlefield couldn’t convert.
More bad news for Osbourn fans, though. On the first play for Osbourn, the Eagles fumble again and the Bobcats once again recover.
Battlefield still leads 13-12 and the Bobcats have the ball inside the red zone.

5:34, fourth quarter: This game might be over.
The Bobcats are down to the Eagle 18 after some nice runs by Nagee Jackson and a huge pass from Bo Revell to Blaine Mason that netted 24 yards.
____________________________
8:33, fourth quarter: This could be the game-changer—Osbourn was marching down the field (including Chaz Bates’ pickup of a key fourth down) when Thomas Keith turned the ball over for the third time in the game with a fumble.
Battlefield recovered and now has the ball at their own 30.
____________________________
11:57, fourth quarter: And the Bobcats regain the lead with a one-yard Bo Revell run. They can’t convert the two-pointer, however, so the lead is just one, 13-12.
____________________________
End of third: Battlefield lets the clock run out at the 1 yard line.
Justin Creech, our writer tonight, just informed me that the Bobcats had 82 yards on offense in the third quarter, more than they had in the entire first half.
____________________________
0:42, third quarter: The Bobcats are again knocking on the door as Bo Revell connects with Bobo Beathard to pick up a fourth and short to inside the Osbourn 10.
____________________________
2:15, third quarter: Battlefield pikcs up its first third down conversion.
Have these teams finally found their offenses? Were they left in the locker rooms for the opening half? The school’s big, but come on, they should have been able to find the football field.
____________________________
4:20, third quarter: Osbourn answers back with a score of its own as Chaz Bates threw a 32 yard touchdown pass to Timmy Keith.
The Eagles failed to convert their two-point attempt, but they lead 12-7 nonetheless.
Forgive me if I don’t post for a bit, I have to recover from learning just now that my Yankees lost their first postseason game this year in extra innings to the Angels.
____________________________
7:36, third quarter: Battlefield takes the lead after the extra point on Jamie Robinson‘s touchdown run.
The Bobcats are up 7-6.
____________________________
9:27, third quarter: And there’s interception No. 2 for Thomas Keith.
This time it was Christian Delgado with the pick, taking it from the Osbourn 40 to the 28. Battlefield has a golden opportunity to score here.

Halftime leaders:
> RUSHING: Osbourn, ThKeith 12 for 54 yards; Battlefield, NJackson 14 for 31 yards
> PASSING: Osbourn, ThKeith 2 of 14, 48 yards, TD, INT; Battlefield Revell 4 of 10, 37 yards, 2 INT, fumble
> OFFENSE (overall): Osbourn 120 (Thomas Keith has 102); Battlefield 70
Battlefield has picked up just three first downs so far in the game. The Bobcats are still without a third-down conversion, going 0 for 6 in such situations.
Meanwhile, Osbourn has five first downs. So why haven’t the Eagles scored more? Because all those firsts came in the first quarter and four were on the first drive.
____________________________
0:57, second quarter: And Thomas Keith finally joins the pick party. Another floating, telegraphed pass over the middle was grabbed by Blaine Mason.
With how Keith had been throwing, it was only a matter of time.
But without time outs, Battlefield is content to just run out the clock in the half after picking up a first down.
The teams enter the locker rooms with Osbourn leading 6-0.
Kind of a weak offensive game for two of the area’s best teams. Maybe it’s good defenses, but I don’t see it. Both teams have shown ineffective offenses in the first half.
____________________________
1:17, second quarter: So much for that. On third and 10, Bo Revell is sacked and fumbles, turning the ball over to Osbourn.
Battlefield has three turnovers in the game, all by the Bobcats’ signal caller.
____________________________
2:26, second quarter: Trouble brewing for the Eagles. They’re on a thrid and long in their own territory and Thomas Keith was almost picked off (again) by Jamie Robinson.
Osbourn punts and Battlefield takes over at the Eagles 48. The Bobcats could really take advantage here with a score before the half.
____________________________
3:37, 2nd quarter: Battlefield is now 0 for 5 on third downs, not a good trend for a team hoping to contend in the playoffs. They need to convert those against good teams.
The Bobcats are now looking at 4th and about a foot or two.
____________________________
9:48, 2nd quarter: Just a quick observation, but Osbourn’s Thomas Keith is lucky he doesn’t have two or three interceptions himself already.
Twice Andrew Smith missed picking the Eagles’ QB off and another time Keith lobbed a ball into the end zone that was just begging to be caught by a Bobcat. It hasn’t hurt them yet, but if Keith keeps making attempts like those, this game could turn around real quick.
____________________________
11:49, 2nd quarter: I’m still battling with my computer, so I’m not sure how often these updates will be tonight.
With that said, Bo Revell just threw his second interception of the game, twice as many as he entered the game with.
Osbourn is still up 6-0 because the Eagles haven’t been able to mount much offense since their opening turn.
____________________________
5:59, 1st quarter: Vidal Greene just caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Thomas Keith for the game’s first score, but Battlefield’s Andrew Smith, who nearly intercepted Keith earlier on the drive, just blocked the point after attempt.
Osbourn leads, 6-0.
____________________________
7:15, 1st quarter: Sorry for the delay folks, computer issues.
Battlefield was forced to punt on its first possession and now Osbourn is marching down the field. The Eagles started at their own 14 yard line and have reached the Bobcats’ 24 and are threatening to score first.

Game: Osbourn Eagles vs. Battlefield Bobcats
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
PREVIEW
> BOBCATS DEFEND THEIR TURF: The area’s best defensive squad faces its toughest challenge of the season against Osbourn, which has scored more points (231) than any public school team in the county. The showdown for first place in the Cedar Run District will ultimately come down to Battlefield’s ability to shut down Eagles running back Vidal Greene, who has an area-best 15 touchdowns and averages 7.3 yards per carry. The Bobcats have yielded only 43 points in six games, including a shutout against Osbourn Park. They have not allowed more than 17 points in a game all season and held Osbourn Park star Dominique Terrell to 44 rushing yards.
> ONE AND DONE: The Bobcats won’t have to worry about a season-ending loss to Osbourn this fall. The Cedar Run District rivals won’t meet in the playoffs since Battlefield competes in Division 6 and Osbourn is in Division 5. A year ago, Battlefield went undefeated throughout the regular season before losing to the Eagles 22-20 in the Northwest Region semifinals.
> KEEPING UP WITH KEITH: After rushing for 205 yards in a comeback victory over Loudoun Valley last week, Osbourn quarterback Thomas Keith has the Eagles positioned third in the Group AAA, Northwest Region Division 5 power rankings. Keith has rushed for 496 yards and thrown for 525 this season.
> BO-DACIOUS: It means remarkable. Bodacious suits Bo Revell, who has completed 51 percent of his passes for 700 yards and six touchdowns, while throwing just one interception. The unbeaten Bobcats are virtually assured of a playoff spot this season and Revell is a big reason. Battlefield’s offense is designed to chew up yardage and the game clock and Revell accomplishes both behind the blocking of a stout offensive line led by left tackle Jimmy Long and the running prowess of Nagee Jackson (516 yards, eight touchdowns).
> POWERADE: Three Prince William County teams lead the Group AAA, Northwest Region, Division 6 power rankings with Battlefield (31.0) topping the field. Cardinal District front-runner Woodbridge (28.7) is second, followed by Osbourn Park (27.0). All three teams are likely to make the postseason, with Gar-Field (22.4), Hylton (20.3) and Stonewall (2.30) also in contention for the six-team playoff field.
