Injury updates: Terrell may miss game Friday

Sports Editor Dave Fawcett informed me today that Osbourn Park starting quarterback Dominique Terrell is questionable for Friday’s game against Freedom.

OP head coach Brian Beaty said Terrell’s right ankle is still sore after injuring it in the Yellow Jackets’ 28-26 win over Osbourn Sept. 25.

Terrell ran the ball only six times for two yards last week against Gar-Field, another OP win. Beaty said Terrell didn’t practice the first three days of the week and wasn’t sure if he would Thursday, either.

He added that though Terrell will dress for the game, Beaty is unsure whether the junior will see any action.

Dave Fawcett learned that if Terrell does in fact sit out the game, senior Jamil Brown will replace him under center.

Terrell is the team’s leading rusher with 528 yards.

The Yellow Jackets’ other ground threat, running back Gary Jackson, is also banged up and may miss the game.

The junior missed the Gar-Field game after hurting his shoulder the previous week. Jackson is Osbourn Park’s second-leading rusher with 282 yards.

Both Terrell and Jackson have rushed for four touchdowns apiece.

> Manassas Park’s all-district lineman Bobby Jackson will miss the rest of the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament Sept. 18 in the Cougars’ 21-18 win over Colonial Beach.

A 6-foot-3, 260-pound lineman, Jackson had seven tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks in Manassas Park’s first three games.
