King, re-explained
It seems that it’s neccessary I should make a few things clear after reading the comments on the Keith King resignation story.

First, to the commenter accusing us of some kind of media cover-up: that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Contrary to popular belief, we can’t just conjure up facts or information out of thin air. Someone needs to actually go on the record with us with the information before we can publish it. Otherwise, we could be sued. We just don’t know anymore than what has already been reported (other media outlets have even less information that we do).
So if anyone involved would like to step forward and comment to either myself, Kipp Hanley or our sports editor on the record, feel free to contact us.
So far no one has been willing to do that.
Which brings me to my next point: this is both a “personal” issue as well as a “personnel matter.“ It is personal in that it involves King’s private life and/or family. That could mean any number of things, of which I won’t even speculate.
Second, it’s a personnel matter to the county as he is a member of the school system. PWCS makes it a point to not comment on most personnel moves as an overall strategy. This applies to teachers and staff that are not coaches as well. This was not a typo.
I’ll recap: King resigned for a personal matter and the county won’t comment because it is a personnel matter. There is a difference beyond just spelling.
And lasty, as I said yesterday in Things…, something happened and the school and school system felt it was best if coach King took some time off from the team and he eventually decided to leave the job. Some of you are making assumptions instead of actually reading the information provided, and that is very dangerous.
Beyond someone stepping forward with actual information, we don’t (and likely won’t) know anything more on the decisions.
