Country-First at the GOP Convention

Last night’s convention was electrifying. President George H.W. Bush and his great wife Barbara, were joined by Medal of Honor winners to the survivors of Iraqi War recipient Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Monsoor, a Navy seal who gave his life to save fellow Seal Team members form a grenade. All of this was amid our theme for the night, “Country-First and Service”.
Fred Thompson then laid out a riveting case for the election of the experienced, tested, proven leadership of John McCain over Obama whose experience is to far-left wing community organizing. Indeed, if the North Vietnamese couldn’t break this him physically or mentally, neither can the lobbyists in Washington.
This was followed by an equally impressive speech from Senator Joe Lieberman who, as a democrat, appealed to democrats and liberals to put country first and support a man, John McCain, who will do the right thing as opposed to what’s easy or politically conventional. It was a very impressive argument and I think it may have appealed to conservative democrats and independents.
Tonight we will hear form Sarah Palin and I think it will be a very special moment for all Republicans, women in particular, and the nation.
