Kicking It Off in Denver

We are making history in Virginia and Prince William County/Manassas/ManassasPark! We are a battleground area for the Obama campaign!

I have been involved in the Obama campaign for over a year and have the honor to be an Obama delegate to the Democratic National Convention. My journey this weekend to Denver actually began Saturday morning with the opening of a new Obama/Virginia Democratic Party office in Manassas. Governor (and soon to be Senator) Mark Warner called in to encourage the volunteers, who then hit the streets to register new voters. This is actually the second Obama office to open in our area. We opened the first Obama office about a month ago at the Ridgewood Office Center on the Prince William Parkway. We are committed to carrying this area in November for Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Mark Warner and our three House candidates.

Delegates from across the country are gathering in Denver and looking forward to an exciting week. The Virginia delegates (just over 100) are all staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, just a mile from the Pepsi Center. We have a delegation breakfast each day to get our credentials and the schedule for the day. We are all looking forward to Mark Warner’s keynote speech on Tuesday night.

I’m very excited about the choice of Senator Joe Biden to be Barack Obama’s running mate. Joe Biden is a passionate and compassionate leader who has Washington experience but still understands the challenges facing everyday Americans. During my years working as a legal counsel in the Senate, I always enjoyed listening to Joe Biden’s speeches from the Senate floor. He and Barack Obama make a great team!

Attending this convention is a tremendous opportunity for a “political junkie” like me. I’m looking forward to a great week!
