Virginia’s Day to Shine
Keith Scarborough

Last night was Virginia’s night to shine with Mark Warner’s keynote speech.  A great speech and just one more example of how important our state is for electing Barack Obama and Joe Biden.  Warner’s speech was not as partisan and full of “red meat” as some past keynote speeches but he described how Obama can carry Virginia—by reaching out to all voters and competing in every part of the state with a focus on getting results from government.

Hillary Clinton did a great job of describing why Barack Obama, not John McCain, represents the change we need in Washington.  After the convention, Delegate Brian Moran hosted a great reception for all of the Virginia delegates.

Before the convention speeches, I attended a “Faith in Action” Panel hosted by the Democratic National Committee and the Obama campaign.  We discussed various ways in which the Obama campaign can reach out to people of faith, both during the campaign and once in office.  There was also an interfaith service on Sunday afternoon, the first ever at a Democratic National Convention.

At today’s breakfast we heard from Governor Kaine, former Denver mayor and Clinton cabinet person Frederico Pena and Terry McAuliffe, former chair of the DNC.  Governor Kaine’s parents from Kansas joined us.  We have a lunch with Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. And tonight, we formally nominate Barack Obama and Joe Biden and hear from former President Bill Clinton.  What a day!
